The series comprised 29% of Broderbund revenue in fiscal year 1992. In April 1989, it was awarded a "Diamond" certification from the Software Publishers Association for sales above 500,000 units. In 1988, Broderbund announced that the company had sold more than one million copies, and that sales of the software comprised 4% of the entire United States software market in 1987. II Computing listed it seventh on the magazine's list of top Apple II non-game, non-educational software as of late 1985, based on sales and market-share data. In 1985, it and Ghostbusters were reportedly the two most widely pirated Commodore 64 programs. Versions for MS-DOS, Commodore 64, and the Atari 8-bit family followed, as did a variant for the Apple II GS. Designed by David Balsam and programmed by Martin Kahn, it became one of the most popular Apple II titles of all time. The original version was for the Apple II and created signs, cards, banners, and letterheads. Over the years, the software has been updated to accommodate changing file formats and printer technologies. It was unique in that it provided libraries of clip art and templates through a simple interface to build signs, posters and banners with household dot-matrix printers. The Print Shop is a basic desktop publishing software package originally published in 1984 by Broderbund. Discontinued: Apple II, Atari 8-bit, MS-DOS, C64, J-3100, NEC PC-9801

The WHW itself was established in the winter of 1933 by Joseph Goebbels, largely as a way of stirring up a sense of collective responsibility, after which it became a yearly event (Unger 136). But, of course, such charitable acts came at the cost of those deemed unworthy of altruism or even basic human rights-those same cared-for refugees were housed “where the occupying German force had brutally ejected Poles from their homes, stealing their property along with their livestock and personal possessions” (Lower 35). For example, young female recruits were sent to the East where many “cared for and educated ethnic German refugees who streamed from Romania and Ukraine into…Poland” (Lower 35). The “Soldatenlieder” Winterhilfswerk Booklet is an example of propaganda given as a token of gratitude after a donation, though these donations were directed only toward those who qualified according to Nazi ideology, and this was true for virtually all such altruistic exploits (not just those directly associated with the WHW). The Winterhilfswerk (WHW) was one of its charity initiatives “from its annual collection campaigns placed considerable of money and…consumer goods at the disposal of party-sponsored welfare distribution” (Unger 134). The second artefact was created by the Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt (NSV), a welfare organization whose stated goal was to provide aid to those in need under the Reich. ![]() objects which reflected a glorified, fictionalized image of the ideal German citizen and evoked this aforementioned national pride-were created. ![]() It is no surprise, then, that such memorabilia-i.e. Wade further posits that this sense of national identity requires “us to believe in a series of fictions” (80) which support some political agenda or ideology that places the nation and its people above all others. Nationalism is often reinforced through sporting events such as the Olympics because they “ask us to identify with…our national team” (Wade 81), which allows the average citizen to develop a sense of community and cultural identity. The Porcelain Figurine of Aryan Woman is a collector’s item which was produced by Porzellanfabrik Schaubach Kunst (Porcelain Factory Schaubach Kunst), perhaps with the intention of reflecting these two popular topics in order to gain mass appeal. It is likely that the production of such items was particularly lucrative, as they would have appealed to both the rising admiration of the Nazi Party (byname of National Socialist German Workers’ Party NSDAP) and the sense of nationalism that often accompanies sporting events such as the Olympics, two aspects of German society which would have been at the forefront of public consciousness at the time. The Porcelain Figurine of Aryan Woman can be dated within the year 1936, during which the Winter Olympics took place in Berlin. This German-language paper booklet was in print from 1933-1945, with the intent of acquiring continual donations for the NSV and distributing them to those in need. It falls under the Nazism and propaganda, as well as publications and ephemera genres. The second artefact is the “Soldatenlieder” Winterhilfswerk Booklet, (Winter Relief of the German People) which was published by the Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt (National Socialist People’s Welfare, henceforth NSV) in Germany. It is likely to have been created around 1936 in preparation for the Berlin Olympic Games as an example of the archetypal woman under the Reich. ![]() This figure falls under the Nazism and propaganda, as well as sports and recreation genres. So it is wrong to think of that set of names only for polydentate ligands. Yet tris- (or in other compounds: bis-, tetrakis- etc.) is used. So the commonly used name for Wilkinson’s catalyst is chlorido-tris(triphenylphosphano)-rhodium(I).Īs you can see in the final example, triphenylphosphane is a monodentate ligand not able to chelate. The root name tells you the length of the molecule's parent chain, which contains the parent functional group. IUPAC nomenclature names are based on a root name, a suffix, prefixes, saturation indicators, and locants. Each prefix has a unique symbol that is prepended to any unit symbol. It was designed so that every chemical structure has its own unique, unambiguous name. All metric prefixes used today are decadic. ' mono-' indicates one, 'di-' indicates two, 'tri-' is three, 'tetra-' is four, 'penta-' is five, and 'hexa-' is six, 'hepta-' is seven, 'octo-' is eight, 'nona-' is nine, and 'deca' is ten. Instead, the prefix is changed to tris- which again means three occurrances of the same distinct species - in this case, triphenylphosphane. A metric prefix is a unit prefix that precedes a basic unit of measure to indicate a multiple or submultiple of the unit. When naming molecular compounds prefixes are used to dictate the number of a given element present in the compound. Note the double- tri in the middle causing possible confusion. Naming this one would result in chloridotri(triphenylphosphano)rhodium(I) as an initial guess. This deck has a win-con (flood of Angels, constant damage), but it has an alternate win condition: Rage Quit. My other favorite is when my opponent literally has no option to win and has to concede. My favorite way to win Magic is by a weird, awkward condition that my opponent cannot answer for. I have to talk about Mono-White Lifegain first, even if there are concepts that I think are more powerful. This deck can still very much win without the Book. There’s talk that it could get unbanned in the Standard Rotation 2022 (with Innistraad: Midnight Hunt). Sisyphean Obstacles (Mono-White Lifegain)Įditor’s Note: The Book of Exalted Deeds received a ban before this could even go live. Good, without everything feeling busted is important. AFR might have the most consistently good cards for decks in MTG Arena that I’ve experienced in a while. There are, of course, other amazing cards in this set. I really think it will make a splash outside of Standard, but I can see it being used in Izzet Spells. It’s got solid stats, has cost reduction, lets you recast spells from the grave (by exiling them), and you can cast it from the grave by exiling instants/sorcery cards from the grave in addition to its costs. A 4-blue creature, it costs 1 blue less for each instant and sorcery you played this turn. It’s also an excellent upgrade to Griffin Aerie in terms of creating creatures. They can’t beat you, no matter what they try. We don’t have to make it a creature! If your opponent can’t target lands, they may as well submit, because there’s no point. As the turn ends, it will return to being land, and can no longer be killed. Turn it into a creature, and then grant it the ability. But…what if they can’t? The solution is clear: Faceless Haven. You can sacrifice the Book of Exalted Deeds to grant an Angel “You can’t lose the game and your opponents can’t win the game.” So that player will no doubt want to kill that creature. You can create a Prison deck for the first time in a while. I also want to highlight The Book of Exalted Deeds. I think that’s going to be way better in Historic perhaps, but we’ll see. It’s a little bit of a gimmick card, but you can, in theory, hit the other player for 20 damage if it gets inflated with its ability, while it’s got 20 power. It has Flying/Haste and is a 6/6 flyer for 6. It can’t be countered, which has real Carnage Tyrant vibes. There’s also Inferno of the Star Mounts in Red. As long as a creature that was not Ebondeath dies in a turn, you can re-cast him. A 4 mana 5/2 Flash/Fly legendary? Sure it comes into play tapped, but it can always come back. Then there’s Ebondeath, Dracolich in Black. Having a 7/7 flyer that has to be exiled is really intimidating. Since it has no negative ticks, it will not stop being this creature, if it transforms. While only one of its abilities is worth anything, the fact that it becomes indestructible, flying 7/7 Dragon God is quite useful. Before we get started on the MTG Arena AFR decks, what are the best cards themselves? How about the Grand Master of Flowers? It’s Bahamut. Some of the cards are more powerful than others. If you want to see a whole heap of those new cards, you can use this article as a reference point. There are some excellent and powerful cards in AFR for MTG Arena, so decks will be changing up.
